KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
While applying for this position, please remember that if selected for this prestigious position, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing PSX’s financial health and strategic management. Your primary responsibilities will include leading the financial planning and analysis functions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and developing financial strategies to support PSX’s growth objectives. This position requires an in-depth understanding of the financial markets, expert knowledge of accounting principles and a keen ability to analyse complex financial data. You will be tasked with preparing accurate financial reports, forecasts and budgets and providing insights to the executive team to facilitate data-driven decision-making. Additionally, you will oversee all aspects of financial risk management and internal controls, ensuring that the PSX’s financial practices align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
In this high-impact role, effective leadership and communication skills will be crucial for managing and mentoring a team of finance professionals. You will collaborate closely with other departments to align financial strategies with overall business objectives. Your expertise will be instrumental in negotiating contracts, managing capital expenditures and optimising capital cash flow. Furthermore, you will liaise with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and key stakeholders to maintain transparency and build trust within the financial community. As a strategic partner to the executive team, you will drive the initiatives that enhance financial performance, support sustainable growth, and position the PSX as a leader in the region’s capital markets.
FINANCIAL REPORTING:
- Review of periodic financial statements, monthly MIS along with monthly Dashboard.
- Developing a formal cost allocation system and carrying out exercises for Revenue Restructuring/enhancement.
- Preparing equity and organizational restructuring plans and identifying ways to enhance return on equity.
- Handling matters relating to fixed assets management, investment property, banking arrangements etc.
BUDGETING AND CORPORATE PLANNING:
- Preparing the Corporate Strategy Document, which covers the strategy and assumptions to be used while preparing the budget document.
- Management of the Annual Budgeting process (both Capex and Operating) along with the three-year Financial Projection and coordination with other departments for compilation of relevant budgetary information.
- Budget monitoring of day to day expenses and capital expenditures.
- Review of periodic and annual management reports for presentation to the Board of Directors highlighting key trends and variances from the approved budget.
TAXATION AND OTHER ASSIGNMENTS:
- Preparation of tax proposals related to capital markets for onward submission to the Government of Pakistan and inclusion in the annual Federal Budget.
- Dealing with matters pertaining to Corporate Taxation.
- Coordination with the internal and external auditors and insurance companies.
- Updating the Accounting Manuals and Limit of Financial Authority.
- Updating and drafting various other policies on a time to time basis.
- Supporting the automation of all the financial functions across the organization and implementing ERP.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and relationship-building skills.
- Financial Modeling, Budgeting and Analysis Skills.
- Ability to prioritize assignments to produce high-quality work in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
- Comprehensive experience in implementing ERP.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- At least 7 years of post-qualification experience in the relevant capacity.
- Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP).
